Half Day City Sights Tour

Start from ship at Port Chalmers wharf, travel along the harbour road to the city to enjoy spectacular sightseeing opportunities throughout Dunedin. This half-day tour starts 9:00 am from the ship's wharf and includes photo stops and visits to Dunedin City's main attractions.


  • Tour of the University of Otago, New Zealand's first university.
  • Baldwin Street, the World's steepest street! Walk up or we may drive you to the top.
  • Signal Hill lookout for a grand view of Dunedin city and harbour and Otago Peninsula.
  • See Dunedin's renowned Botanical Gardens and tour the town belt with commentary on the historic mansions and early settlers.
  • Visit Dunedin's Railway Station, built in the style of Flemish Renaissance.
  • View the magnificent buildings of the Octagon (city centre) and raise a glass to Robbie Burns.
  • Tour Dunedin's historic precinct with old banks and hotels of significant Victorian heritage.
  • Tour will return you to the ship's wharf at Port Chalmers by 1:00 pm.
  • Or choose to end the tour at 12:30 pm in the city centre and experience Dunedin independently during the afternoon. Take the cruise ship shuttle transport back to the ship ($10 fare not included).

Larnach Castle | Peninsula & City Tour

A full-day City Sights Tour taking in many of Dunedin's iconic buildings, landmarks and scenic lookouts. Included is a fully guided tour of New Zealand's infamous Castle built over a century ago by William Larnach high up on the hills of the Otago Peninsula.


  • Begin with day with a city sights tour visiting Baldwin Street. Walk or drive up this world record breaking street and check out the fantastic souvenir shop on the corner.
  • Stop in at the University of Otago to view the old clock tower building and then go inside Dunedin's Grand Railway Station where we may see the old Taieri Gorge Train.
  • Time for a light lunch from one of the many cafes and eateries in the Octagon. Perhaps you may like to try some fresh NZ fish & chips!
  • After lunch we head off to the Otago Peninsula via Saint Clair Beach to spot keen surfers and take in the vibe of the Esplanade.
  • Experience breath-taking views along the Otago Peninsula high road with photo stops as we travel on-route to Larnach Castle.
  • Our guide will escort you throughout the entire castle, from the gun room below to the views from the turret and all the marvels in between.
  • Enjoy our personal attention to detail as we explore the Larnach family’s legacy and tell of their amazing story.
  • The Castle's spectacular garden is one of national significance and there will be an opportunity to explore.
  • Depending on the day there is often time for afternoon tea in the Castle's Ballroom Cafe before we depart.

Historic Train with Wine & Cheese + Citysights

Starting from the ship at Port Chalmers, we travel along the harbour road to Dunedin city for an informative introduction to the day. We then transport you to Dunedin's grand Railway Station where you will board the famous Taieri Gorge Train. After the train journey we continue with a City Sights Tour or choose an optional city based attraction to enjoy before we head back to the ship.


  • Disembark the ship early to make a 8.45am departure from ship's wharf at Port Chalmers.
  • We drive along the harbour road to the city centre and arrive at Dunedin's Grand Railway Station. Time for a brief look around as we acquire your pre-booked tickets and show you to your carriage.
  • Travel along the historic railway built during the Otago gold rush period to Pukerangi Station or Middlemarch.
  • Wonderful scenery can be viewed along the way as you travel through the iconic landscapes of Central Otago.
  • The heritage train features traditional carriages with many original fittings including open air balconies at each end.
  • Giant viaducts and historic bridges can be viewed in detail as the train stops at certain points of interest. 
  • Iconic Tours provide a complimentary cheese board and bottle of NZ bubbly to enjoy on board the train.
  • The train also has a cafe/dining carriage for extra food and refreshments on the trip.
  • Iconic Cruise Tour 3 also includes Dunedin city sights in the afternoon and return transport back to the ship's wharf.

  • Speights Brewery a unique opportunity to sample our local beer "Speights" with a fully guided tour of the working brewery plus tasting session at the end. Speights has been brewing its fine ale in Dunedin for well over 100 years which today is fast becoming NZ's favourite drop.
